Imperfectly Perfect & Still Unfinished

Apple picking in New England. What a perfect memory. Isn't it amazing how imperfect people can come together and experience moments of perfection together? Synonyms of perfect include complete & finished. And it leaves me thinking about what God means when He says that He can make us perfect. Is it meeting this impossibly high standard created by our imperfect expectations? I don't think so. I think it's simply being made complete by Him, finally reaching a state of feeling finished. No more striving for more or better. I get a glimpse of feeling this way in little moments of my life, like when my family rides out into the country and enjoys a spectacular day of apple picking. A perfect moment. A glimpse of what it will feel like when God has brought me to perfection, and then that feeling of completeness will last forever.

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me."
Philippians 3:12
