About This Blog

First, The Title
What does Finding the Nothing Better Life even mean?  The title has a very specific meaning. It comes from Ecclesiastes 3:12 which says "I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live."  I suppose it could suggest other meanings as well, like learning to find complete satisfaction--a satisfaction from knowing that there is nothing better than this life that God has granted to each of us. There is nothing better than your life as God created it, and mine as He created my life. There is nothing better than to fully engage in His divine purpose for my life with unwavering gratitude. This is a satisfaction & contentment worth finding.  It could also suggest finding humility in the fact that my life is nothing better than that of anyone else's. We have each been uniquely created by God, with purpose & promise. None of our lives worth more or less than another. Recognizing the humility of our own position can be such a blessing, according to Proverbs 11:2 which says "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom" and Proverbs 15:33 which says "The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor."  Whichever meaning you were hoping for in finding the nothing better life, I hope you find a little bit of it here.

Why Blog?
There is nothing new under the sun and my words and sentiments aren't something for which someone will say, "Look!  This is something new" (see ref. below)....neither are any blogs, books, speeches, notions, or anything.  And the goal of this blog isn't to be something new.  It isn't meant to be filled with new insights or information.  The goal is to mutually edify the writer and reader, to discover together God's goals for our lives, and to encourage each other to keep running the race set before us.  I speak woman to woman, mother to mother, daughter to daughter.  I hope that this blog will speak into your hearts as much as it is speaking into mine.

Ecclesiastes 1:9
"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.  What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.  Is there anything of which one can say, 'Look!  This is something new?'  It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time."

Romans 14:9
"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification."

1 Thessalonians 4:18
"Therefore encourage each other with these words."

1 Thessalonians 5:11
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

Titus 2:3-5
"Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to too much wine, but to teach what is good.  Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands & children, to be self-controlled & pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, & to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

Hebrews 12:1
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
